Shingles
Shingles is a reactivation of the chickenpox virus that causes a painful blistering rash. It is associated with increased severity in adults over 70 and has now become part of the British Vaccination Schedule in this age group. The vaccine reduces the risk of you getting shingles and also the severity of the disease if it does occur. You are eligible on the NHS on your 70th birthday and remain eligible up to your 80th birthday. It is thought to be less effective after this age.
